People have always noticed something different about me. I can’t tell you how often people ask “why are you so happy?” or “why are you constantly smiling?”. As a twenty year-old student-athlete at a large university, my life and responsibilities are far from easy and perfect. All of my joy comes from the undeserving love my Savior constantly shows me. I spend most of my days with my face down in the water, training for something much greater than my school or myself. I grew up in church surrounded by a solid, wonderful family of believers, but it wasn’t until my freshman year of high school I sold myself out to Jesus Christ and finally understood what I was put on this Earth for. I have chosen to shine my light to the world because that is what Christ intended for me, as described in Matthew 5:16. With every stroke I swim, I swim for my Lord Jesus. I am free from worry, stress, and fear of the future because I know He has already taken care of it for me. Although I am imperfect and struggle with sin like those around me, the blood of Jesus Christ has rescued me and I can live freely in Him. Every single day, whether it’s in the pool, weight room, classroom, or in my social life, I work for Jesus Christ because he gives me endless happiness and strength. I smile because I am adored by a Savior and can compete with the talent He blessed me with. I am an Unashamed Athlete who puts all of my hope and trust in the Lord.

“I consider my life worth NOTHING to me, if only I may finish the race and complete the task the Lord Jesus has given to me- the task of testifying to the gospel of God’s grace.” Acts 20:24
